April 23 Sault Ste Marie, On
April 24 Thunder Bay, On
April 25 Neepawa, MB
April 26 Saskatoon, SK
April 27 Edmonton, AB
April 28 Banff, AB
APril 29 Vancouver, BC

Unfortunate family circumstances and the first mate catches a flight from Saskatoon home early. My thoughts are with her.
Mike and Mazda skip the night in Saskatoon and keep on through to Edmonton. Chillin’ with Dave & Angela Conery in Edmonton is good times and this morning I made the scenic trip through Calgary into Banff. The SameSun Hostel is a relaxing atmosphere; good company. Visiting some folks at the Banff Centre, Monday morning, to see if it’s the place for me to spend the fall months learning to make music sound like music. Monday afternoon I hit the road for Vancouver and with any luck I’ll arrive ‘home’ by evening.

Pictures.

Swift!

Winnipeg? Neepawa.

Gladly, we did not stop in Winnipeg.
The city of cold, barren, leeching death, Winnipeg is not really a “cross-country extravaganza” stop that I would choose. Fortunately, the hospitality committee has seen to it that we circumvent Winnipeg entirely in favour of the exciting and inviting Neepawa. Though we haven’t yet arrived and I don’t really know a thing about this fine city, there’s slim chance it won’t beat Winnipeg out of the water.

Third day driving. My ass is sore. Zoom-zoom is doing well. Loaded to the roof and sitting lower than car-show’s plastic-laden civic coupe, what was once a stiff, sporty ride has quickly begun to drive more like a small, trolling boat.

Taking pictures here and there to be posted in due time.

The first night, spent just outside Sault Ste. Marie on St Joseph’s island in a beautiful house built on old farm land with Bed & Breakfasters in mind, was a great experience. Paul and Rilla keep a huge property complete with an ancient farm house and equipment. Rilla, you’ll see her in the pictures…, is a photographer in her retirement years. Someone remind me to tell Pawel that she knew a fellow, Southward, who worked for the Windsor Star so many years ago. The breakfast was delicious. Great conversation and plenty of cool pictures of all the wildlife animals that include them in their daily life. Ground hogs, deer, birds, wolves, geese. Wild. Life.

Last night we stayed in Thunder Bay in a mansion built in 1906. Very comfortable, great company. Thanks for the potato latkes, Louise.

And now we are en route to Neepawa, Manitoba. How will it go? Will it beat Winnipeg? Stay tuned interwebbers.
